Flight Log - 2011-06-18 - Paul Nortness's AIM-54C Phoenix

TLP 2.6" Phoenix. Replaced the very soft balsa stock with 3/32" basswood. Laminated fins with self adhesive label paper. Added foil tape on inside of body tube to avoid scorching....that engine mount is WAY up in there!

Replaced the paper hat nose cone with Semroc's Balsa BNC-80VE

rocket boosted a little slow off the pad but straight. Got about 100 feet up and it took a horizontal flight path. Began curving down and finally deployed chute about 50 feet from the ground. No damage. Stock engine clip sucks....ejection charge kicked the motor clean out.
