Flight Log - 2013-04-05 - Bill Eichelberger's Estes - Astron Drifter

Flight Date: 2013-04-05
Rocket Name: Estes - Astron Drifter
Flyer's Name: Bill Eichelberger
Motors: A8-3
Expected Altitude: 300 Feet
Wind Speed: 10.00 mph
Launch Site: Fabulous B6-4 Field, Ft. Thomas, Kentucky
Actual Altitude: 300 Feet

Cocked into the wind, but drifted back across the field and hung up on a power line after catching a gust at the last possible second.  The wind then blew it along the line until it tangled in a transformer.  I don't think I'll be climbing up after it.

9-3-13 The Drifter fell today, just two days short of five months.  Nose cone, parachute and shock cord are still wrapped tightly on the wire.  Motor pulled out easily and after fixing a fin and finding a new nose cone, I think I might be able to fly this one again.  That'll show B6-4 Field!
