Wanted to build a nice rocket that would be reliable, yet scale.

I didn't wood fill anything, or prime.  Just light coats with sanding in between, and a few clear coats on top.  I left the yellow tube unpainted, as the instructions suggest.  With the clear coat on top it ends up looking like the phenolic section of the real rocket.  I highly recommend this.
