This is a Larry Brand design that can be found here on EMRR Rocket Reviews if you search on "Larry Brand" or "Sardo XXL".
This rocket has a 38mm motor mount and is constructed using mostly LOC parts although I did use simple postal mailing tubes for the airframe and tube fins. The tube fins are laminated with an inner half-doubler made from postal tube. All up weight (recovery, links, nomex blanket, 36" Topflight chute but NO MOTOR) is approximately 35 oz.
Larry Brand describes this rocket as an upscale of his Auracle 54 design which I have also built and named "Steppin' Razor". Therefore, this one is named "Steppin' Razor II".
I made my level 1 certification flight with this bird. Successfully, too.
This rocket has been updated to dual deploy in 2015.

At the last moment I decided to put my Dark Matter reload in my tube fin Sardo XXL instead of the Madcow Squat. I should have checked the previously drilled in delay against my binder of sims.
The boost was great and the Dark Matter motor lived up to my expectations. The 6 second delay was just too short and I wound up with an explosive 4" long zipper. I say exlosive because pieces of the upper body tubing were turned into confetti.
Looks like I will be converting this bird to dual deploy to repair the damage.
