Biography:

I am a year 1 alum of U.S. Space Camp, where I built and flew my first rocket. Since that time 30 years ago I have constructed dozens of rockets during my on-again, off-again time in the hobby. In the mid-late 90's I discovered high-power rocketry, and built a PML Ariel that has certified L1 for me twice now. Back then with Tripoli, and in April 2012 with NAR. I also have a PML Quasar that is autographed by Homer Hickam (Author of "The Rocket Boys" - movie "October Sky") and it is retired, having a place of honor hanging in my wife's elementary school classroom.

I am fully vested into the hobby (while maintaining my interest in model railroading - my other hobby) and have a couple of dozen kits in the garage (many OOP Estes birds) to build still. I am an active member of the Dallas Area Rocketry Society and enjoy sharing the hobby with kids.

I'm currently exploring options for my L2 bird, and think I have a plan for L2 and L3. I have some work to get there first, and plenty of kits to keep me busy in the meantime.

My favorite rockets are based on prototypes: Black Brant II, Nike Smoke, Thunderbird, and my favorite of all time - the Nike Hercules. As far as sport rockets go I am partial to the Estes Baby Bertha because it's such a fun, easy kit and a great flyer in any conditions. I've built them with 3rd graders and they're just a great rocket. I also love my Estes Photon Disruptor and LOC Starburst.

My awards include: 2010 DARS Fall Classic "Classic Classic" and 2011 DARS Fall Classic "Classic Starship" winner - Estes Strike Fighter, 2011 DARS Fall Classic"Classic Classic" and "Best in Show" winner - Centuri Draconian Marauder.

I enjoy the hobby with my wife Heather and her kids Hannah and Jacob are involved as well. I hope to bring as many people into rocketry as possible, helping to create the next generation of "Rocket Scientists".

Rose to the Occasion

Flight

Awesome first flight on the new Estes E12-6 motors. Both lit and gave a terrific boost up into the wind. Recovered safe about 50 yards from pad. - E12-6 - Frisco, TX [More]
